What does your car’s official documentation say about E20?

Review official manuals and manufacturer publications for the selected configuration and documented period. The checker does not inspect your car, and historical coverage may be incomplete.

Check the documentation

Current reviewed coverage

Reviewed Indian-market authoritative sources with evidence precision and applicability limits. Coverage is currently being expanded manufacturer by manufacturer. A missing result does not mean your vehicle is incompatible.

Public beta: This checker summarizes reviewed official documentation for supported vehicle configurations. Historical models, manual revisions, engine variants, and exact cutoffs may be incomplete. A missing or conditional result does not mean your vehicle is incompatible. Check the applicable owner manual and current manufacturer guidance before making a fuel-related decision.

Check your vehicle

Registration year can differ from manufacturing year. Selectable models include reviewed and research-pending choices; their state is shown in the model list.

Find the manufacturing month on the registration certificate where available, driver-side door or pillar label, vehicle invoice, or manufacturer records.

Suggest a missing or incorrect fuel-compatibility result

We store your selected vehicle details, result status, suggestion category, optional note, and optional official source page so the editorial team can manually review the issue. Suggestions do not automatically change published results. A keyed pseudonymous network identifier is retained for up to 48 hours for abuse prevention; suggestion content is retained for 90 days. Do not submit registration numbers, VINs, phone numbers, email addresses, or personal details. See the Privacy Notice or contact our grievance route.

How the checker reaches a result

Authoritative first

Verified claims come from reviewed official owner manuals, manufacturer publications, technical documents, or government evidence.

Exact applicability

Model and manufacturing periods stay separate. The checker does not generalize from a brand, registration year, or unrelated variant.

Fails closed

Unreviewed selections return not researched; inconclusive reviewed evidence returns not verified. Neither is an incompatibility claim.

National policy context

Fuel-market rollout and vehicle documentation answer different questions

India’s E20 rollout applies at the fuel-market level. Vehicle-specific manuals and manufacturer guidance may use different wording or applicability periods. Material compatibility is also not the same as calibration, durability, warranty guidance, or the actual condition of an individual vehicle. An older manual mentioning E10 is not, by itself, proof that E20 is unsafe, but it is also not exact vehicle-level E20 confirmation. This policy context never upgrades an E10, conditional, not-verified, or not-researched model result.

E10 and E20 compatibility FAQs

What is E20 petrol?

E20 is petrol blended with up to 20% ethanol. This checker reports what reviewed documentation states for a supported configuration and period; it does not inspect or certify an individual vehicle.

Is every BS6 car E20 compatible?

No. An emissions standard alone does not prove E20 compatibility for every engine, component set, model year, or manufacturing period. Check the exact owner manual or manufacturer confirmation.

Does registration year determine E20 compatibility?

Not always. Registration can happen after manufacture, and documentation can change within the same calendar year. Use the manufacturing month and year when possible.

What does an older manual mentioning E10 mean?

It is a documentation finding, not proof that E20 is unsafe and not a direction to find E10. India’s E20 rollout applies at the fuel-market level, while vehicle condition, calibration, durability, current manufacturer updates, and warranty guidance are vehicle-specific. Check the applicable manual and request written manufacturer guidance for the exact vehicle.

Can E20 affect seals, hoses, or other fuel-system parts?

Compatibility can depend on the materials and components fitted to the exact vehicle. This checker does not predict damage; the applicable owner manual and manufacturer guidance take priority.

Does E20 compatibility affect warranty?

Warranty terms can vary by vehicle, market, and manufacturer update. Review the current warranty and owner documents or request written confirmation from the manufacturer.

How can I find my vehicle’s manufacturing date?

Look for the month and year on the driver-side door or pillar label, purchase invoice, registration certificate, or Form 22. It may differ from the registration date.

What if the owner manual and dealer advice conflict?

Ask the manufacturer for written guidance tied to the exact engine, configuration, and documented applicability period. The checker does not resolve a documentary conflict through verbal advice or national policy alone.
